Go Rick Santorum!

It appears that Rick Santorum has won both the Mississippi and Alabama Republican primaries and I could not be more pleased.

It might seem odd for a liberal to be happy with Santorum's victories but the logic is simple.

The longer the Republican primary season goes on, the less time Mitt Romney has to focus on beating Barack Obama. If Santorum continues to run Romney close then Romney is likely to be forced further to the right which makes it harder for him to pick up independent votes in a general election.

And OMIGOD if Santorum actually ended as the Republican Presidential nominee, well that might just be an excuse to get very very drunk (Happy drunk not drown your sorrows drunk).

  1. From afar it is hard to see what the rabid anti Obama raving is about. I raise this in the context of unelectability. Last time it was the Democrats with a knock down drag out fight between Barrack Obama and Hillary Clinton and the unspoken question was "can either a non white male or a female get to be President?" Answer Yes! So this time it is Mitt Romney as a rich Mormon and the only candidate left standing (but fading) in Rick Santorum. So this time the unasked question is "can a Mormon or a heavy religious southern conservative pull enough voters in on the day it counts?" Reports are now the Mitt is ignoring Rick and focusing on Barrack who is in turn ignoring him. Only six months to go till we find out. B
